About TYPO3

Technological basis TYPO3 version 4.x
TYPO3 is a typical LAMP system that uses the advantages of open-source software architectures in many different ways. The web server used is typically a Linux-based Apache that processes the TYPO3 source codes available in PHP and provides a MySQL database. A slim system infrastructure is therefore sufficient for its use, however, a database abstraction layer makes it possible to also use other databases, such as PostgreSQL or Oracle databases. TYPO3 can also be used for high-load operations and can be run in cluster environments.
The system architecture of the content management system makes it possible to administer an unlimited number of pages and content elements, which can be offered in several languages, if needed. In addition, several web portals can be installed in a TYPO3 system and administered together..
TYPO3 can be expanded with additional business logic using a large selection of available open-source extensions. About 5,000 extensions are currently available, including news management, shopping systems, calendars, blog extensions, discussion forums and many more. Thanks to its modular architecture the system also makes it possible to integrate custom-made developments, allowing each website operator to have its portal designed and adapted in accordance with its individual needs. The freely available and thoroughly documented interfaces also make it possible to connect with third-party systems from existing heterogeneous IT landscapes.
